Electric Car Dealership Rolls Across the U.S

--trends + business + politics--

One can tip their cowboy hat for a local San Antonio car dealership, for a bold move to offer exclusively 100 percent electric cars and trucks. The San Antonio dealership adds its name to a growing roster of ZAP dealerships in the U.S

Santa Rosa, Calif.-based ZAP (OTCBB: ZAAP) originally was incorporated in California as ZAP Power Systems in 1994. The company changed its name to simply ZAP in 2001. ZAP later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in 2002 only to re-emerge from bankruptcy in 2004.

ZAP has positioned itself in the industry to both manufacture and distribute a brand "advanced technology vehicles," ranging from personal transportation, to electric cars, high fuel-efficient cars and more. The company is distributing the nation's only production all-electric car as well as a line of three-wheeled trucks and sedans that travel up to 40 miles per hour, including; The Xebra, Xebra Truck, Xebra Xero n the Obvio 828e and the Obvio 012e.

ZAP is also in development on the ZAP-X Crossover, that it is working on with LOTUS engineering. The Zap X is an electric sports car expected to be brought to the market by the end of 2008 and will be built around the APX, a concept car developed by England's Lotus Engineering. The ZAP X is expected to go 350 miles before a charge( significantly farther than either the Tesla Roadster or the car from Wrightspeed) at a cost of $60,000.

We are keeping a close eye on ZAP and their ambitious plans to make driving and purchasing easy and eco-friendly.
