Art Scene Warehouse, located in Shanghai China, just mounted an exciting show titled "Warning Visions: Chinese Contemporary Artists on Global Warming" (September 1 - September 20, 2007). The show features a collection of works by contemporary Chinese artists. The exhibit was a bold move by the Chinese, who have exhibited little urgency towards this growing problem, even though China is one of the top two (India being the other) fastest growing emitters of CO2 (largely due to its rapid economic growth). This exhibit is a respectable attempt to build consciousness around this critical issue. I eagerly await a global call as such, for artists to present a "one voice/one world" perspective on our environmental crises.
To aid in this cause the gallery has launched a site (in Chinese - this link to featured artists work) which aims to raise global warming awareness using the power of art. The gallery hopes that the site will expand as more artists are invited to join.
