Interlock #1
Oakland California based artist Josh Keyes isn't shy about pointing out the absurdity of our modern day approach to engaging with our environment. His art work is one part sarcastic wit mixed with one part activism communicated in a highly articulate graphic manner with an overt surrealistic bend.
His work incorporates scientific looking studies that analyze everything from skyscrapers to animals to road signs to blossoming landscapes; each depicted in their own "Eco-systems." Each piece clearly portrays the awkwardness and tension that defines the relationship between our natural world and our fabricated one. There is no synergy of any sort, and the whole of our world (both natural and fabricated), becomes one absurd irony.
