Photographer Exposes Man's Perversion of Nature

--art + architecture + design--

Finnish artist Iikka Halso's photography takes a stab right into the heart of our deepest Eco nightmares in his Museum of Nature Series. The digitally enhanced photographs feature nature "incubated" in man made environments for the purposes of entertainment and/or study. The result is confrontational, not only between the natural and the man made in the photos, but in the image and audience; something sacred has been broken in Halso's eery compositions.

Experiencing the compositions one becomes aware of the unavoidable subconscious regard and reliance that we have for the natural environment and the perversion of the man made on that environment. Halso's work is an accidental environmental allegory on the frailty of our relationship to nature.
