Nothing less ambitious than outright enlightenment is being taught to kids as young as preschoolers in Fairfield Iowa. The effort takes form in the unique educational institution of The Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment.
The school focuses on education as well as the full development of consciousness of every student. The objective is to inspire a more mindful long term approach to life as a whole, as well as to provide an immediate solution to the growing stresses and anger that are invading the lives of modern day kids. This is achieved through the practice of the Transcendental Meditation® technique, which develops expanded awareness and the full expression of the students’ intelligence and creativity.
The meditation program, along with traditional academic study, balanced with the arts, physical education, and a variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, provides a balanced daily routine to help "rapidly develop the state of enlightenment."
This extraordinary school is documented in a documentary "School of Thought" (Dir: Tony Perri) set for release this summer.
